Facebook world map

Well, it seems that someone working at facebook got bored and created this beauty:


It's a map of the world... Fair enough, except he never actually based it on a map of the world.
He collected data of facebook relationships from people all over Facebook, then got their location and converted it to a longitude and latitude grid. At first all he got was a big white blob, but after adding weighting to the lines we get this map of the world (minus of course China and most of Africa and S.America)
