Okay make sure your ipod has 3.1.2 firmware, then instead of downloading redsn0w download blackra1n (
http://blackra1n.com/) scroll down and select your OS, once it has downloaded plug in your ipod and close itunes when it pops up, then run Blackra1n and simply click the button that says Make it Ra1n and then your done.

No Offense Mate but who the f*** would want a tethered jailbreak, if your ipod is an MB model its untethered, if its an MC model its tethered, check via settings>general>about then find model.
