If you are receiving the error:

When trying to scan in Windows from a Canon Pixma using ScanGear / IJ Scan Utility then add these exclusions in to your anti virus program.
C:\ProgramData\CanonIJScan
C:\ProgramData\CanonIJScan\TR4600 series
C:\Windows\twain_32\SG20\TDGLIB.dll
