Windows 1.0
Windows 1.0 first shipped on 20th November 1985! A whole two years later than expected. It was announced by Bill Gates at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
"We laughed, just laughed them out of the place" says Nathaniel Borenstein, who was doing IT work for Carnegie Mellon at the time,
But.. it was a step up, a step up from DOS which is a CLI operating system where as Windows 1.0 had Windows, this whole new world of GUI goodness.
Windows 1.0 is 25 today, (well.. a few days ago because i'm kind of late with the articles and that Windows 1.0 is older than me.. 0.o)
