[HOW TO] Find a switch / ignition live in a Fiat Grande Punto for Radio / Head Unit

Some notes from my personal experience of how to splice in to a switched / ignition live on a Fiat Grande Punto (2007).

The most common request for this is when somebody is installing an aftermarket head unit / radio as there is no proper switched live on the punto radio wiring. The OEM radio is switched via can bus.

The feed that everybody suggest to use is the cigarette lighter.

Take the gear leaver gaiter off by just gently pulling the leather / plastic up.

You can then pull it all the way up. Some people say that there is foam in there but mine didn't have it. If you have foam in yours just remove it and add it back in once finished.

The connector that you want is directly under the cigarette lighter as shown in the images below. Unplug it.

If you have a multimeter here would be a good time to use it. My switched 12v was the red and white wire. There will be a better way to do this but I just simply used a scotch lock.
So take your new cable put that in one side of the scotch lock then put the existing cable in to the other side and clamp it down then lock with the clip. This now makes the new (blue) cable live when the ignition is on.

Use electrical tape as required.

The other end of my blue cable. This is before I put a bullet connector on it.
