Hi!

Is it possible to use an old harddisk to store pictures from a digital
camera without using af computer?
If so - what is the cheapest way to do this?

If there is, I doubt that the method is something commercial. What is wrong with using an SDCard to copy images onto a current computer? Or even one of these new WiFi SDCards that will auto-upload images online, if you really want too cut the computer out of the cycle.

Not any way I know of. The hd needs an ide controller to send data to it and the file system and file headers need to be written by some sort of processing unit. So there is both hardware and software needed to run a hd. Not to mention the power supply. A hard drive isn't designed as a stand alone device.
