Evan Williams, Twitter Founder resigns as CEO

Evan Williams, co-founder of the social networking site Twitter is standing down from his position as chief executive. He has been the head of the company since 2008, apparently he's resigning to allow himself to focus on more ways of making Twitter profitable - he made this announcement on Twitter's blog, he said: Twitter needed to "meet its potential as a profitable company".

The current chief operating officer, Dick Costolo will take his place.

Although Twitter has grown dramatically over the past two years, with the user base shooting up to 160 million, compared to the three million users they had two years ago, Mr Williams isn't satisfied.

Mr Williams, ex-CEO of Twitter Wrote:"Growing big is not success in itself"

This announcement shows that Twitter as a company are about to become really serious about making money... something they have tiptoed around for some time.

What I meant is that they aren't these shitty flash ads that are all over the web.
