New tool against spam signups - Mark - 01-11-2010

I've now implemented reCAPTCHA in to the registration form instead of the default MyBB verification that was getting owned.

Get past that suckers! :blackhat

You're a human. Well... i think you are. :dno

I believe these are sophisticated bots controlled by a super 1337 bot master and his army of bots which were making fake sign ups and putting shit in their sigs.

That n00b yesterday who tried spamming received a perma ban then thought it was funny to post in the guest section so he received a further pwning. No more trouble from him. He was human. :yay

I'm guessing you like the report to mod button now Tongue

Have you deleted all spam accounts?

RE: New tool against spam signups - Mark - 01-11-2010

The report button is awesome. I get prompted almost instantly and can see in detail what the nub was up to. At first i though they were old posts when he was unbanned but once i cleared them within seconds then another appeared i knew he was pushing his luck so i hopped into my Admin seat and you've got to do what you've got to do.

I've deleted a few, not all of them yet though. I've just implemented this plugin minutes before making this thread so in a few days we'll see if it's worked.

Also: 1,000 posts!
