Valve releasing a free game today (Unreal Tournament: Alien Swarm) - Mark - 19-07-2010

Later today, Valve is to release an updated version of the old Unreal Tournament mod, Alien Swarm. They will also be releasing the full source code of the game.

Alien Swarm has been remade in Valve's Source engine and will include full Steam support, with cloud storage, Steamworks tools and community support. The game itself is a top-down, co-op focused shooter about blowing up aliens.

The release of Alien Swarm has come about after Valve hired the team behind the original Unreal Tournament mod, Black Cat. Since their acquisition in 2008 Black Cat has worked on Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal, but has continued working on Alien Swarm too.

It is said that the game is to be made available tonight at around 9PM GMT.
