What to check for when a printer is jamming - Mark - 23-12-2013

Based more on home and small office printers.

1) Open up any access doors (front / rear) and clear and existing paper. Check for smaller pieces of paper that may have torn and are stuck.
2) Clean rollers using water and a lint free cloth (also clean rollers at the rear).
If there's a bigger pickup roller (normally further inside) clean this with a cotton bud so you can reach.
3) Check cartridge, power the printer on and then open the front door to access ink, the ink should slide over, pull the power. Push the ink to make sure it moves freely.
4) Check condition of cartridge metal rod.
5) Check encoder strip, runs parallel to metal rod / bar.
