How to configure a Vigor Draytek 2830n ADSL router to work with a DSL / Cable line

The 2830n is an ADSL Router Firewall but can be configured to work over a DSL connection.

Log in to the web interface of the router and go to WAN > General Setup.
Here you can see the three available WAN interfaces.

We need to focus on WAN 2.
WAN 1 is for ADSL and WAN 3 for USB like a 3G dongle.

Now go to WAN > Internet Access, set WAN2 to Static / Dynamic IP then press Details Page.
You can either set WAN1 to none or leave it as PPPoE / PPPoA.

On the Static or Dynamic IP page make sure it's enabled then select the radio button next to "Obtain an IP address automatically"
When it connects it'll auto fill out the IP details.

Go to Online Status > Physical Connection to check connection status.
At first it will take a minute or so for the connection to come through.

Just make sure you plug the connection from the DSL modem in to WAN2 (Giga) on the Draytek.
