GameReview: Crossfire - Fireren - 06-10-2011 Game Review: Crossfire - Rival Factions OverView Crossfire is a military first person shooter (fps) part of the Z8 Games Franchise. It is currently quite popular and is similar to Nexon's Combat Arms. The background for this game is of two rival military groups that fight each other to protect or control the world. the two groups are Black List (BL) and Global Risk (GR). This game is constantly updated and is free to play with additional currencies that can be purchased. Setup & Registration Making an account in Crossfire is quite simple and quick. Simply enter in some basic information and activate your account via e-mail. Afterward you must download the game. The game download is relatively quick compared to other games of its type and takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. After doing this you are ready to play! General Information As a fps; this game has several different game types including:
Weapons & Systems The Weapon system in Crossfire is one that I have enjoyed quite well. You start out with around 45,000 GP which is the currency in the game. Every game you play you can earn more GP. Furthermore daily challenges can also give you 500 GP as well as eventual prizes. Lastly when you rank up to certain ranks you will be rewarded with anywhere from 10,000-30,000 GP. This GP can then be spent to buy grenades, guns and other items. Guns are permanent once you buy them but will be damaged when used and must be repaired from time to time. Another thing you can buy are Crates. Crates are like playing the slot machine except the prizes are guns, name plates, and items. There are several crates to choose from and each crate offers several different items that you could win. The most important one being a permanent weapon while there are some temporary 7-day weapons as well. Two other currencies in CrossFire are ZP and BP. ZP is a currency that must be purchased with money. You can then trade the ZP for GP, Buy special ZP crates with better prizes, or buy special ZP only items. BP are bonus points you receive whenever you buy ZP. You receive 1,000 BP for every 10,000 ZP purchased. ZP costs around 8.99 per 10,000. Rankings & Achievements Crossfire has two ranking systems. One for individual members and clans. Individual members rankings are based on their rank in the game. While Clans are based on their clan points which are earned by either winning clan matches or having their players perform well in the game. The achievements in this game are first and foremost the ranking system. Where you must earn a set amount of exp to rank up to the next rank. Another achievement system are badges. You can receive badges for getting a certain amount of kills with a certain weapon. Such as assault rifles or sniper rifles. The more kills you get the higher the level your badge is. To get the badge you need 300 kills with that weapon first, however. Overall Rating All in all this is a fun and entertaining game with many different guns and game types, that will keep you entertained for a long time. Constant updates coupled with a great gaming system make a truly great experience. There are various ways to go whether as a sniper or a knifer. I have been playing for near a year now and it has been immensely satisfying with a smaller population of hackers than Combat Arms. There's something for everyone. I give this game: 9.2/10 Authors Notes This is my first game review and I have several more ideas for more sections including screen shots and more detailed game systems. If you have any suggestions or ideas please share them. And tell me what you think so far! |
